Guildford Liberal Democrats: The positive choice for Guildford

Local choice for Friary & St Nicholas by-election

7.30.10pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 21st Oct 2005

The Lib Dems have selected local campaigner Caroline Reeves to be their candidate in the Friary and St Nicholas by-election on 24th November.

Caroline has lived locally with her daughter in Artillery Road for 17 years and is a freelance book designer. She is well known locally and is very active in our local community as chair of the G4 Residents' Association.

Caroline said, "I thoroughly enjoy being part of a thriving town centre community with all the benefits of Guildford so close by. If elected, I will work hard to make our area an even better place to live in."

The by-election was caused by the resignation of long serving local Lib Dem Councillor Robert Blundell due to ill health. Robert is backing Caroline to carry on his work for our community.

Top priorities for Caroline on the Council will include tackling anti-social behaviour problems, improving road safety and protecting the unique character of our area from overdevelopment.

Caroline has also been working closely with the local Lib Dem team to improve residents parking in our area.

Caroline said, "Parking is a real problem in our area and must be addressed. Ensuring that all new housing developments will provide one parking space for each residential unit is just the first step to tackle these problems."
