Guildford Liberal Democrats: The positive choice for Guildford

Cranleigh Lib Dem councillors will continue to fight for Waverley

2.21.20pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 11th May 2007

Liberal Democrat councillors Ken Reed, Celia Savage and John Savage, who all represent the Cranleigh East Ward, are determined to maintain the Liberal Democrat influence on Waverley Borough Council.

"We will be pressing the Conservatives every inch of the way," says Ken Reed, now Leader of the Group. "Almost a third of all the votes cast in the Waverley elections were Lib-Dem. While our prime responsibility is to the residents of Cranleigh East, we will work to represent the views of Lib Dem supporters across Waverley."

John Savage said, "We will scrutinise the Conservative administration's proposals, and we will not hesitate to speak up for everyone in Waverley."

Celia Savage added, "We will be fighting for what we believe to be right for the people of Waverley, just as we have always done for the residents of Cranleigh."

The Lib Dem success in Cranleigh means that in the Guildford Parliamentary constituency, the Lib Dems remain the largest party - having 24 councillors to the Conservatives' 14 with one independent and no Labour councillors.
