Sue runs for life!11.26.44am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 30th May 2008
Sue Doughty, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Guildford, is joining hundreds of enthusiastic women participating in the Race for Life at Stoke Park on 7th June. More than 3500 women are expected to take part in what has become a welcome fixture in the fundraising calendar across the country. It is now the UK's largest women-only fundraising event and to date, 3.4 million women have raised over £200 million for Cancer Research UK. Sue said, "I've never been much of a runner so it's good to have a goal to work towards. Although I have never enjoyed it, the running is good for me and more importantly has motivated me to do the Race for Life. "It really is a worthwhile cause and Cancer Research UK has set an ambitious fundraising target of £277000. If people wish to contribute to my fundraising for Race for Life, they can do so by visiting http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/suedoughty" Alongside Liberal Democrat councillors Caroline Reeves and Wendy May, Sue also did the sponsored walk for the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre a few weeks ago. "We wholeheartedly support the Yvonne Arnaud and it was a pleasure to take part. The beautiful walk was organised to raise money and awareness of the threat to the theatre." Related Link:
