Guildford Liberal Democrats: The positive choice for Guildford

Axing Pegasus is bad for parents, communities and planet: Doughty

At the meeting of the Guildford Local Committee last night Sue Doughty called for the members to call in the decision to axe the Pegasus school bus service. She said "This service was brought in after endless delays by the County and was almost drowned at birth in bureaucracy. As an MP I pushed hard for this. I fully support the view of Councillor David Goodwin who had asked for a postponement of this decision in order to fully assess the impact."

Although Surrey has claimed that cost is behind the decision, Sue believes that more could be done to reduce the overheads in running the service.

Speaking after the meeting she said "The County will come to regret this decision. They have no understanding of the problems which will now be faced by parents, particularly those with children at different schools. It is a pity that instead of spreading rumours about the green belt, before the County Election, the Conservatives chose to be less than honest with the public. It is no wonder that the public cannot trust them.
