Lib Dems celebrate seven borough parks getting a Green Flag Award

Lib Dems running Guildford Borough Council are celebrating that seven local parks have received a Green Flag Award this year. The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

In total Guildford Borough Council's parks team maintain:

  • 50 countryside sites
  • 65 parks and gardens
  • over 30 playgrounds
  • 1,100 hectares of green space

These green spaces contribute to local people's wellbeing. They also have a positive impact on the environment.

Seven parks have met the Green Flag Award criteria for 2022:

  • Allen House Grounds
  • Chilworth Gunpowder Mills
  • Onslow Recreation Ground
  • Stoke Park
  • Sutherland Memorial Park
  • The Castle Grounds
  • The Riverside Nature Reserve

Lib Dem Councillor for the Environment on Guildford Borough Council, James Steel, said:
