Onslow ward by-election May 2026

The Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that Paul Hienkens will be standing for the Lib Dems in the upcoming Guildford Borough Council by-election in Onslow on 7th May.

Paul is committed to being a local champion for Onslow and to working alongside fellow Lib Dem councillors, Angela Goodwin and Steven Lee, to ensure they get the best possible deal for local residents.

The by-election has been called following the resignation of former councillor, James Jones.

On his selection, Paul said: “It is an absolute honour to be selected to stand in Onslow.

“Onslow is a wonderful community. I will do all I can to fight for residents.

“At such an important moment in local government in Guildford, I will do all I can to ensure Onslow gets the best possible outcome as we transition powers away from Guildford Borough Council to the new West Surrey council.”

This by-election will be a close contest between the Lib Dems and Conservatives. A vote for Labour,
the Greens or any other party risks letting the Conservatives win.
